Changing acoustic guitar strings

Eventually you will have to change your acoustic guitar strings. Either because you break one, or they are dirty and dull.

Here is a quick video on how to change your guitar strings. When you are first starting out, I actually recommend that you have someone string your guitar and set it up for you. You can do this at your local music shop. It will cost you a little bit of money but will be money well spent.

Not that you can not so this yourself. You probably are not going to damage your guitar and the worst thing that happens is you mess up and waste a string. I just think it is easier to have someone else do this for you especially the first time around.

Ask to watch then as they string your guitar so you can learn and then do it yourself next time.

When you are ready to tackle this on your own, here is a video for reference. There are so many “how to” videos out there. I consider this one the bet. It is detailed, specific and easy to follow.

You will need a few things:
1.Obviously, a set of strings. I recommend using a light gauge. Something coated if possible to give a longer life. An 80/20 bronze is that I use.

2. A string winder that has the pin remover at the bottom.

3. A pair of wire cutters. Sometimes your string winder will have that built in as well.

Good luck, don’t be intimidated, and let me know how it goes in the comments below.
